What is Mad Fun Games all about?

Patrick and Rob, the founders of Mad Fun Games, mucking about at game nights

We work hard to design games that are easy to understand and play, but more importantly FUN, because life already gives us enough complexity. Whether it's ridiculous camels, indestructible tardigrades, bonkers trivia, or clever wordplay, the heart of everything we make at Mad Fun Games is about laughter and connection.

We design games that anyone can pick up in minutes — no long rulebooks, no waiting around, and no one left out. They're built for families, friends, and even first-time players to dive straight in, make mistakes, and enjoy the chaos together. The joy comes not from mastering intricate systems, but from the spontaneous moments that unfold around the table.

Fun is the core principle that drives every idea we make. We believe the best games are ones that feel alive — where a single card or turn can flip everything, and where everyone at the table has a chance to laugh, shout, and play their part. It's not about strategy so deep you need a spreadsheet, or luck so random it's meaningless — it's about rhythm, energy, and connection. Our goal is to make games that turn any night into a good story, where the rules disappear and the fun takes over.

Our debut title, Tardigrades Are Forever, was backed by more than 620 people, with 780+ copies pledged. It proved there was an audience for the kind of games we wanted to make — and we can't wait to share what comes next.

How we build a game

  1. 1. Prototype fast. Every idea gets played with scribbled index cards long before it goes anywhere near artwork.
  2. 2. Test it on real tables. We hand games to first-time players and watch what breaks. If it needs explaining twice, it changes.
  3. 3. Print it properly. Linen-finish cards, sturdy boxes and packaging that survives being shoved in a backpack.

What's next

Tardigrades Are Forever is fulfilling soon, Camel Meets Straw is in production, and five working-title games are being put through the Lab. If you want to help us break them before they print, join the playtester pool.
