Privacy policy

Orders: your name, email address, shipping address, phone number if you give one, order contents, order history and a payment reference from our payment provider.

Accounts: your email address, authentication details (including via Google sign-in if you choose it), display name and any saved delivery address.

Play tester applications: your name, email, city, state, country, age, your group's age range and typical size, your answers to the qualifying questions, your acceptance of the non-disclosure agreement, and any notes you write. If you are selected, we also collect video you send us of your play session.

Reviews: your display name, rating, review title and text, and whether the review is linked to a verified purchase.

Enquiries: contact and wholesale enquiry details, including business name and ABN where you provide them.

Technical information: limited log and device data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep the Site secure and working.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Where a play test group includes a person under 18, we ask the primary tester to obtain parent or guardian permission, and we do not collect that person's contact details.

Card and PayPal details are entered directly with our payment provider and never reach our servers. We store only a payment reference and the amount, so we can match a payment to your order and process refunds.

We use your personal information to process, ship and support your orders; to operate your account and show your order history; to run the play tester programme; to publish and moderate reviews; to answer enquiries; to detect and prevent fraud; to meet our tax and consumer-law obligations; and, if you have opted in, to send occasional updates about new games. We only use your information for these purposes, or a related purpose you would reasonably expect, unless you consent otherwise or the law requires it.

We send transactional messages — order confirmations, shipping updates, play tester confirmations, account and security notices — because you need them; these are not marketing and cannot be opted out of while you have an active order or account.

We may send a single review request a couple of days after your order is delivered. Marketing emails about new games are only sent if you opt in, and every one contains an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately.

We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run the store, and only so far as they need it: our payment provider, our hosting, database and email providers, our email marketing platform, and the shipping carriers who deliver your parcel. We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of people.

We never sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers or third-party ad networks on the Site.

Some of our providers store or process data outside Australia (including in the United States and the European Union). Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider handles your information consistently with the APPs, including through contractual protections.

Data is stored in secured, access-controlled cloud infrastructure, encrypted in transit, with access restricted to the small number of people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

We keep order and tax records for at least 5 years as required by Australian law, account data for as long as your account is open, play tester applications for up to 2 years after the relevant programme ends, and play session video only for as long as needed to develop the game concerned. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

You may ask us to access the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete information we no longer need to keep, or stop sending you marketing. Email info@madfungames.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first, and there are limited situations where we must refuse a request — if so, we will tell you why.

We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your cart between visits. These are strictly necessary for the Site to work. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block them in your browser, but parts of the Site will stop working.

The Site links to third-party sites such as our Kickstarter campaigns. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published here with the date it was last updated. Material changes take effect when posted.
